Devesh is the founder of Pani Energy and has undertaken the core R&D behind PE's technologies for many years. Devesh has a mechanical engineering background with several publications and patent applications in the field of membrane processes. He has been recognized with multiple research and entrepreneurship awards including BC Clean Energy Award, Coast Capital Entrepreneur of the Year, W.E. Cowie Innovation Award in Engineering and recently, Douglas Magazine did a cover on him calling him one of the most promising young entrepreneurs on Vancouver Island. He was labelled as the student making a vital impact globally by the University of Victoria.
Dr. Ian MacDonald
Ian is a former professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Alberta. He joined Pani Energy as a founding investor and now is the Chair to the Board. Ian has extensive research and industrial experience, he is the former President for the Canadian Institute for Photonic Innovations, and has played key scientific and development roles at JDS Uniphase Inc.; Communications Research Centre, Department of Communications; Nortel; Microsystems Internationals; Societá Generale Semiconduttori.
Dr. Tom Fyles
Chief Scientific Officer
Tom Fyles is the former Chair and current Professor Emeritus in the Department of Chemistry, University of Victoria. His academic research career was focused on membrane science and technology: artificial ion channels, membrane sensors, polymeric membranes, and water purification technologies. In addition to a large record of academic publications, he has held five independent patent series in membrane technologies and processes, was a founder of Sensific Technologies - an electrochemical sensors company, and has served as technical advisor and/or director in early-stage technology companies.
Dr. Henning Struchtrup
Henning is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Victoria. His academic career is focused towards Non-equilibrium thermodynamics and energy systems. Henning brings in years of energy system analysis and expertise in fundamental methods and modelling to increase process efficiency. Henning presents an approach to optimize several desalination, energy generation and energy storage processes by challenging the foundational physics and thermodynamics behind the technologies. Henning has been involved in Pani's R&D and acted as an advisor for the last 3 years.
Michael has a 35-year background in Executive Business Management and Operations experience in a variety of enterprises, from start-ups to multi-billion dollar corporations. During his career, he has been responsible for global operations, multi-facility management, strategic business definition and execution, project management and product development/commercialization, and customer management and sales. He has acted in the capacity of Senior Vice President responsible for approximately $1B annual revenue and the associated P&L's directing all aspects of Wireless operations activities in North America, Latin America, Asia and Europe.
Former Vice President of Global Intellectual Property at JDS Uniphase. Neil's patent firm has represented the National Research Council of Canada, Communications Research Centre, Photonics Research Ontario, University of Quebec, Canadian Space Agency, Alberta Research Council, McGill University, Dew Engineering and Development, Flexicoil, American Biometrics, Chrysalis-ITS Inc., Solidum, and many other high-tech companies preparing and filing patent applications worldwide.
